Crochet an elephant toy

Materials:

  • Yarn: any textured, you can stretch Lotus grass;
  • Hook number 2;
  • Filling: synthetic winterizer / holofiber / synthetic winterizer;
  • Eyes: in my case, black glossy glass;
  • Threads for sewing parts to match the yarn;
  • White felt;
  • Cotton fabric for decorating the ears;
  • Wool for felting;
  • Felting needle;
  • Weighting agent: granulate / pebble;
  • Cotter pins: 4 T-shaped and 2 O-shaped (if you need the head to swing) or 5 T-shaped, and then the head will fit snugly to the body and turn, but not bend;
  • Discs 10 pcs.

Legend:

  • vp - air loop
  • sc - single crochet
  • pr - increase (2 single crochet in one loop)
  • kill - decrease (from 2 loops, knit 1 sbn)
  • You need to knit in a circle so that there is no seam.
  • We fill in the details as we knit!

Legs:

1.2 VP, 6sbn in the second loop of the chain = 6sbn
2. (pr, 1sbn) 3 = 9sbn
3-12. 9sbn
Insert the cotter pin with washer and disc between 10-11 row.
We fasten and break the thread, tighten the hole.

Pens:

1.2 VP, 6sbn in the second loop of the chain = 6sbn
2. (pr, 1sbn) 3 = 9sbn
3-12. 9sbn
Insert the cotter pin with washer and disc between 10-11 row.

13.4ub, 1sbn = 5sbn Fasten
and break the thread, tighten the hole.

Torso:

1.2 VP, 6sbn in the second loop of the chain = 6sbn 2.pr
6 = 12sbn
3. (sbn, pr) 6 = 18sbn
4. (2 sbn, pr) 6 = 24sbn
5. (3 sbn, pr) 6 = 30sbn
6. (4 sbn, pr) 6 = 36sbn
7-9. 36sbn
10. (4 sbn, ub) 6 = 30sbn
At this stage of work, we try on and insert the legs.

11-12. 30 sbn
13. (3 sbn, ub) 6 = 24sbn
14-15. 24 sbn
16. (2 sbn, ub) 6 = 18sbn
17. 18sbn
18. (1 sbn, ub) 6 = 12sbn
We fasten the handles by inserting cotter pins between 16 and 17 rows.

We fill in the granulate (you can put it in a specially sewn small bag if you are afraid that it will spill out through the holes) and fill it with filler.
19.12 sbn 20.6 kill
= 6sbn
We insert the mount, tighten the hole.

Head:

1.2 VP, 6sbn in the second loop of the chain = 6sbn 2.pr
6 = 12sbn
3. (sbn, pr) 6 = 18sbn
4. (2 sbn, pr) 6 = 24sbn
5. (3 sbn, pr) 6 = 30sbn
6. (4 sbn, pr) 6 = 36sbn
7. (5 sbn, pr) 6 = 42sbn
8-9. 42sc
10. (5 sc, dec) 6 = 36 sc We
put the head on the cotter pin sticking out of the body and fix it.

11. (4 sbn, ub) 6 = 30sbn
12. (3 sbn, ub) 6 = 24sbn
13. (2 sbn, ub) 6 = 18sbn
14. (1 sbn, ub) 6 = 12sbn 15.6
ub = 6sbn
We tighten the hole, hide the thread

Trunk:

1.2 VP, 6sbn in the second loop of the chain = 6sbn
2-7. 6sbn
8. 6sbn, pr = 7sbn
9. 7sbn
10. 7sbn, pr = 8sbn
Sew the trunk to the head with threads to match or the tail remaining from the trunk - as it is more convenient for anyone.

Ears:

1.2 VP, 6sbn in the second loop of the chain = 6sbn 2.pr
6 = 12sbn
3. (sbn, pr) 6 = 18sbn
4. (2 sbn, pr) 6 = 24sbn
5. (3 sbn, pr) 6 = 30sbn
6. (4 sbn, pr) 6 = 36sbn
7. (5 sbn, pr) 6 = 42sbn
I do not sew the ears yet, so that when tightening, I can only focus on the trunk.
Next, we make eye tightening. We fasten the thread at the back at the base of the head on the right side. From there we withdraw the needle in place of the eyes.
Again we stick the needle of millimeters through 5 upwards and bring it back at the base of the head from the left side. We pull the thread and, holding the eye socket with our finger, we fix the thread so that the dragged eye socket does not "straighten". Without breaking the thread, we carry out the same operation with the left eye socket. If my explanation is not very clear, there is a lot of such information with pictures on the internet.

I "pierce" the resulting eye sockets with a felting needle, so the indentations become more expressive.
Next, we make the whites of the eyes using pieces of felt. We pierce holes in the felt and coat with glue, which is “friendly” with your eyes.
Next, we make the whites of the eyes using pieces of felt. We make holes in the felt and coat with glue, which is “friendly” with your eyes. We glue. With sharp manicure scissors "cut off all unnecessary" and form proteins.

Now it's time to fix the eyes. Much has been written about this too, but my favorite master class is Elena Vinogradova (can be found on her blog).
Now we roll our nails on the legs and arms and, if desired, eyelids. Trying on ears with needles. Here's what we get:

You can stop at this, or you can not calm down and experiment. We select the fabric for the ears. We put them on the fabric, circle and cut out 5 millimeters of the contour. Sew the fabric to the ears, leaving a hole for turning. We turn it out and with the blunt end of the needle pull out the fibers of the yarn from the seam. Sew on the ears, arranging them according to your taste.

You can slightly tint our elephant. It is best, of course, with oil paints, but you can also use oil pastels, in extreme cases - acrylic paints for fabric, although the latter give a crust.
And then there is an endless field for imagination.
