Heart-Felt Pillow

MEASUREMENTS
12″ x 12″ (30.48cm x 30.48cm)

CUTTING
WOF = Width of Fabric

From the linen, cut
:
(2) squares, 13″ (33.02cm)

From the interfacing, cut:
(1) square, 13″ (33.02cm)

From the tulle, cut:
(2) strips, 6½” (16.51cm) x WOF

ASSEMBLING THE PILLOW FRONT

1.Following the manufacturer’s instructions, fuse the inter-facing to the wrong side of one linen square.
2.Using the template provide, center and mark the heart out-line and buttonhole locations onto the fused linen square
3. Test stitching a ¾” (1.91cm) buttonhole on a scrap of fused linen; cut open. Make any ad-justments needed. If your ma-chine has a memory function, save the buttonhole settings for easy repetition.
4. Stitch out all of the marked buttonholes.
5. Sew a row of decorative stitch-ing ¼” (.64cm) outside to heart outline.
6. Cut open all the buttonholes and trim threads if needed.
7. Beginning at the lower heart point, thread a strip of tulle through the buttonhole pairs, leaving about 20″ extending at the lower center. When you run out of tulle strip length, tie on the remaining piece and make a small, fi rm knot on the underside; trim ends, and con-tinue threading. Leave a small amount of slack in the tulle so it isn’t pulled tightly. At the lower point, thread the tulle through the opposite button-hole so both ends are on the top surface. Tie in a bow, and trim ends as desired.
8. Pin the bow securely out of the way of the pillow top edges.

ASSEMBLING THE PILLOW

1. Place the pillow front right sides together with the pillow back square, being sure to keep the bow out of the way. Using a ½” (1.27cm) seam allowance, sew around three sides of the square and around the remain-ing lower corners for about 1″ (2.54cm); backstitch.
2. Trim the seam allowances to ¼” (.64cm), clip the corners and turn the pillow right side out. Gently poke out the cor-ners and press the edges.

FINISHING

1. Insert the pillow form into the pillow.
2. Turn under the edges of the lower opening and hand-stitch closed.
