INSTRUCTIONS
Note: Ch 2 at beg of rnd does not count as hdc.With MC, ch 4. Join with sl st to firstch to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 2. 9 hdc in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 2.
2nd rnd: Ch 2. 2 hdc in each hdc around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. 18 hdc.

3rd rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in next hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. 27 hdc.
4th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each ofnext 2 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. 36 hdc.
5th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. 45 hdc. Size 3/6 mos only: 6th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 8 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * around.Join with sl st to top of ch 2. 50 hdc.

Sizes 2/4 yrs, 6/10 yrs and Adult only: 7th rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2.
8th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 8 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. 60 hdc.
Sizes 6/10 yrs and Adult only: 9th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next (29-9) hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. (62-66) hdc.
All sizes: Next rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2.
Rep last rnd 8 (8-9-9-10-11) times more. Do not fasten off.

First Earflap
**1st row: Ch 1. 1 dc in each of next 10 (10-10-10-12-12) hdc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
2nd row: (WS). Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 6 (6-6-6-8-8) sc.

Sc2tog. Turn. 8 (8-8-8-10-10) sts.
3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st to end of row. Turn.
4th row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog. Turn. 6 (6-6- 6-8-8) sts.
5th row: As 3rd row. Rep last 2 rows to 4 sts.
Next row: (Sc2tog) twice. 2 sts.
Next row: Sc2tog. Fasten off.** Fold Hat in half, with slightly more sts towards front of Hat than in the back. Place markers for 10 (10-10- 10-12-12) hdc of

Second Earflap
to line up with First Earflap on opposite side.
Second Earflap With RS facing, join MC with sl st at marker. Work from ** to ** as given for First Earflap.

Eyes (make 2)
With Black, ch 2. 1st rnd: 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join Bone with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: With Bone, ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join MC with sl st to first sc. 20 sc.
3rd rnd: With MC, 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.

4th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join Grey
Heather with sl st to first sc. 30 sc.
5th rnd: With Grey Heather, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Nose
With Black, ch 5. 1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of last 2 ch. Fasten off, l eaving l ong t ail for sewing.

FINISHING
Sew Eyes and Nose to front of Hat as shown in picture. Loop strands of MC and tie between eyes. Comb with wire brush to‘fluu’ and trim.

Braided Tails (make 2)
Cut 12 strands of MC 36″ [91 cm] long. Take 6 strands tog and thread through end of Earflap. Knot at top. Divide 12 strands into 3 groups of 4 strands and braid. Knot to secure braid. Use wire brush to fluff ends!

Ears
Cut 10 strands of MC and 4 strands Heather Grey 12″ [30.5 cm] long.

Taking 5 strands of MC and 2 strands of Heather Grey tog, loop through
sts at top of Hat on either side. Knot and trim to approx 1″ [2.5 cm]. Use wire brush to fluff! Rep for opposite Ear.
Note: You can also use the wire brush to lightly comb over the Hat to create a layer of “fur”
