I knitted according to the description of Jean Greenhowe, her dolls are striking in their simplicity and thoughtfulness.

Jemima-Jane's doll is pretty big. In finished form, its size is 50 centimeters. According to the description, the yarn should be thick (8ply - Australia, double-knit - USA).

We need threads of flesh, white, light blue, dark blue, blue, red, pink colors. Knitting needles 3 mm for basic knitting and 4 mm for hair.

For a set of loops, the author recommends a set using the "thumb" method. I found it on the Internet, tried it and realized that I have always typed in this way. If you are interested, you can search the Internet for "thumb casting".

I knitted with the row counter, so I give the row numbers as they are.

Part one. Torso and head.

We start knitting from the lower part of the body. We cast on the needles 3 mm 50 loops with white thread. Mark the middle of the typesetting edge with colored thread. We knit the first row with purl loops.

Shaping the head

• 64 row - 2 front, (1 front from the broach, 1 front) to the end - 70 loops;
• We knit 35 rows with the front stitch. Mark one of these rows in the center with colored thread;
• 100 row - (5 front, 2 together front) to the end - 60 loops;
• 101 row and all subsequent odd rows are knitted with purl loops;
• 102 row - (4 front, 2 together front) to the end - 50 loops;
• 104 row - (3 front, 2 together front) to the end - 40 loops;
• 106 row - (knit 2, knit 2 together) to the end - 30 loops;
• 108 row - (1 front, 2 together front) to the end - 20 loops;
• 109 row - (2 together purl) to the end - 10 loops;
• Tear off the thread longer, thread the thread through the loops remaining on the needle, remove it from the needle and tie tightly;

• 39 row - (1 front, 2 together front) to the end - 22 loops;
• 41 row - (2 together front) to the end - 11 loops;
• Collect the remaining loops on a thread and pull tight;
• Sew along the edge loops, Put on the doll's head so that the seam on the head matches the seam on the hair. Place the center of the typesetting edge 10 rows above the eyes, pin in place. Pulling the edges so that you get a V-shape, pin them with pins. Sew your hair to your head.

Hair (chignon)

• Cast on 36 stitches. Knit 12 rows with front loops;

• Sew along edge loops, align the seam with the seam based on the hair. Sew on the hairpiece, leaving a small hole for the padding. Stuff in the hairpiece and sew the hole.

Pigtail

Measure nine lengths of thread, 160 centimeters each. Bring them together and tie the bundle in the middle with thread about 20 centimeters long. Glue this thread with tape to a table or other convenient surface. We divide the threads into three parts and weave a pigtail. When the pigtail is 56 centimeters, tie it so that it does not fall apart and cut off the rest of the threads. Sew the ends of the braids together to form a ring. Place the ring directly in front of the chignon and sew so that the loops of the braids are formed on both sides of the face. Sew on the loops of the braids as shown in the picture.

We cast on 50 loops and close them. Sew the hem and pin it to the feet where the last row of shoes ends. Sew on.

Flowers

• Cast on 12 blue stitches;
• We knit one row as follows - (2 together front) to the end. We collect the loops on the thread and tie tightly. Sew on the shoes at the top;
• We pin the legs to a row of purl loops on the doll's body and sew. There should be 1 cm between the legs.

Important! First you need to sew all the decorations on the legs, and then sew on the legs. This will give you tighter seams.
